Goodbye 2013. You were good to us. You gave us lots of snow.
You gave us a chance to get together & remember a wonderful man.
You gave me a clearer vision.
You gave us burgers. (And a grill to cook them on.)
You gave us tiny DIY upgrades.
And huge DIY upgrades.
You gave us a bigger world view.
And an even bigger reason to hurry home.
Now on to just as great adventures in all sizes. Come at me, 2014.
Well, have I been the worst blogger or what? So much has happened in the past few weeks and I’ve hardly filled you in on any of it. The first week of radio silence on the blog I was busy prepping for a show (more on that soon.) And then last week, there was so much happening in the news that I didn’t want to tear anyone’s attention (or myself) from it all.
So, to quickly recap… I’ve been making tons of custom Toyidermy orders. Enjoying the beautiful city of Boston as Spring finally makes it’s debut. Eating lots of yummy goodness from Matt Murphy’s (French Toast), our home (GF cheesecake bites) & Tatte (Nut tartes, above.) I also enjoyed the marathon from Brookline, including snapping this photo (below) of the mens’ winner. And lastly, working on some new projects to share in my Etsy shop too.
That’s it for now! A HUGE thank you to all of the friends and family who reached out to make sure we were okay last week. We were reeling with emotions from shocked to heartbroken to sad to anxious. But we were merely bystanders to all the events. Those that were seriously affected are the ones that need our concern. You can help by keeping them in your thoughts, donating to the One Fund, and by continuing to visit Boston and support our local economy. We are happy to call Boston home and we’d love to have you visit any time (just not all at once!)
Remember that time I told you guys we went to Europe? Well, we did. And one of our stops was Ireland. Before I went I picked up a new camera bag, as you may remember, and I was so glad I did. This epiphanie! bag was perfect for our trip as we spent long days away from our hotels.
My camera was safe, my hands were free and the bag was stocked with snacks in case we happened to find ourselves in the middle of nowhere and hungry. Which as you can tell from the photos, we were. Here, at the Cliffs of Moher, we were blessed with a beautiful day and astounded by the natural landscape.
We spent about two hours gazing out over the sea that fall afternoon. I just started to (finally) put together a couple photo books from our trip. I’ll be sure to share any other great photos that I come across.
Photos of yours truly captured by the ever-wonderful Mr. Gets Me Every Time. Thanks, David!

Or is it “High School Got Me Every Time”? Either way, high school happened. And this weekend, my friends and classmates are reuniting in Dothan, Alabama to remember and celebrate the whole thing. Since it’s quite the
expensive hike, I can’t be there to join in the fun. So, I’ve packed up a little time capsule to remember what was happening during our senior year. (First, above, my mom had a t-shirt quilt made with all my high school shirts, but that’s is just a sampling.)
1. George W. Bush was muttering incoherent phrases during his first term.
2. Nickelback, Ashanti & Nelly topped the charts.
| sr. year varsity cheer |
3. Our football team continued a most impressive 39-game losing streak. (Go Cougars!)
4. Lindsay Lohan & Shia LaBeouf were nobodies over on the Disney Channel.
5. Flying the friendly skies changed forever. (I was in the common area when I heard, where were you?)
6. Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt were still married.
7. Auburn defeated Alabama at the Iron Bowl.
8. The Power Team ripped some phonebooks in the fancy convocation center.
9. The Real World was in Chicago.
10. LiveJournal, AIM and AOL were all the rage. (a/s/l??)
| this one is from Jr. year, but that’s me, there in the cougar costume! |
From our own bank of memories though, one of the most fond things I can think of is our dear So Fresh, So Clean Crew. And so, in tribute to them, I leave you with this. I hope the band plays it this weekend. Travel safe & have fun guys. Go Cougars!
And, just because I love ya, be sure to check out some of our other classmates’ blogs:

If you have a blog, and I left you off, let me know and I’ll be sure to add it to the list.
