    1. Garbanzo Beans | Or chickpeas. Whatever you call them, they are delicious, when roasted.
    2. Gold Geometric Necklace | So light, dainty, modern. I’d say it’s love.
    3. Geometric Bear | Maybe it’s just “geometry” in general. I’m loving this bear brooch.
    4. The Great Gatsby | My all-time favorite summer read. Get your copy here.
    5. GIFS of CATS | Also known as Cat Gifs.
    6. Gold Gilded Frame | This DIY shows how to get the look with what you have laying around.

That’s just a few of the things I’m loving right now. What’s on your summer reading list? What snack can you not get enough of?

Color Choices Get Me Every Time

As you now know, we are getting ready to move, but first, we want to get a couple fresh coats of paint on the wall. We started in gray land. We looked at blueish grays, purply grays, reddish grays, greenish grays and some gray grays. But then, we started to look at colors with more brown undertones. Something in the “almost white but not too white” category.

After several hours pouring over more than several paint swatches in various lighting scenarios, we settled on three colors to get samples of to test out on the walls. We’re painting our bedroom, our living area and our kitchen. And we are leaning toward two of these three colors. Can you guess which? Or do you have a favorite?

I’ll let you know what we chose soon, along with some stellar before and after pictures.

PS, the fourth swatch (behind the green text) is Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace. An almost white, but not stark white… there’s a place for that too. Also, don’t worry, this blog isn’t going 100% home decor—more crafts, burgers and the like to come.

BBQ Burgers Get Me Every Time

Have I been a bad blogger or what? Coming and going as I please. Not keeping you up-to-date on every little thing. I know. I’ll try to do better internets. Life is just BUSY. So, so BUSY. Between the LASIK (still doing great, by the way) and our second anniversary, a Red Sox game and another announcement I’ll get to later in the week, life is crazy busy. But never too busy for burgers. Especially the summery goodness of a BBQ burger.

    Burger9_BBQBurger3

Unfortunately, we don’t have a grill (or any outdoor space to put one) right now, so these aren’t cookout BBQ burgers, but they were still delicious. I mixed some BBQ sauce into the beef patties with garlic, salt and pepper before throwing these bad boys in the pan. Then, I topped each off with some more BBQ sauce, and a big hunk of onion. Served on a gluten-free bun, these bad boys fit the bill for a warm evening. To complete that summery feeling, I did a little corn on the side thing—gotta get those veggies.

More to come this week. AND, spread the word: my Esty shop will be closed from this Friday – July 1 so I can add some new products and take a little break.

A New Outlook Gets Me Every Time

    by  • June 3, 2013 • Dear Diary • 0 Comments

    PostLasik

You guys. All I can say is “wow.” LASIK was is all they promised and more. And supposedly it only gets better from here as my eyes continue to adjust.

I’ll spare you the technical details as one, you can google that, and two, a lot of people, I’m finding out, have a weird thing about all things optical. So, I’ll just say that the procedure was great, the doctor was great and my vision is the best it’s been in 20 years. TWENTY. YEARS.

I can see the clock when I wake up. I don’t have to take out my contacts or put them in. It’s easy to maneuver to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The whole thing.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts, well wishes, tweets, comments and more. Next time we meet, I’ll see you more clearly than before. And, if you have any questions about how the whole thing went down, feel free to ask. I am a LASIK believer.

    LASIK Gets Me Every Time

    by  • May 30, 2013 • Dear Diary • 3 Comments

GoodbyeGlasses_GetsMeEveryTimeToday. May 30. 2013. A Thursday. I am getting LASIK. I’m getting rid of contacts. Rid of glasses. And I’m getting the chance to see the clock when I wake up in the morning. Heck, to see my husband when I wake up in the morning.

I’ve worn glasses since 1992. And contacts since 1997. And today. No more. (Until I’m older wiser and need them to read all the things again.) People tell me it will be life changing. And I believe them.

It’s a big decision. And it’s one I’ve thought about for a while now. I can’t wait to tell you how this changes my life. For better and worse. But that’s for next week. Today (and tomorrow) I’ll be off the grid. Away from screens. TV, computer, tablet, phone. I’ll be resting my eyes, because once healed, they are getting a serious workout.

    KSDrecital13_5

Hey guys. Since it’s been so long. Since it’s Friday. Since it’s a long weekend. And since tomorrow is National Tap Dance Day, I wanted to share some photos from my mom’s studio’s dance recital. It was another fabulous show and I was so lucky I got to be there (haven’t missed one yet!)KSDrecital13_2

The stage was filled with tiny dancers. The auditorium was packed with friends and family. And the air was filled with excitement. All the dancing was fabulous, here’s a few of my favorite shots!KSDrecital13_7 KSDrecital13_6 KSDrecital13_4 KSDrecital13_3 KSDrecital13_1

Get this, there was even a “Dad’s Dance.” They all got dressed up in their suits and did a little Blues Brother Jig. And look, they had it together… or, well, for the most part.KSDrecital13_8Tomorrow, everyone celebrate this most dancing day with a little jig and a shuffle. It doesn’t matter if you know how, as long as you’re having fun! Now, get those toes tapping.

Focus Friday Gets Me Every Time

    by  • May 10, 2013 • Focus

FocusFriday510Let’s begin this Focus Friday by saying that I’m one week late. That April has come and gone. That it’s May, people! And that my one little word has almost bit the dust. But, I’m all for breathing life into rundown concepts. So, here we go.

In May, I’m focusing on only three things. Time Management. (I miss you guys, and I want to fix that.) Having Fun. (It’s all about balance.) Getting Organized. (Summer is right around the corner and I don’t want to miss any of it.)

That’s it for today. Not even going to mention April’s Focus… it was lost. Lots to share, coming soon, and I mean it. TGIF!

Cilantro Chicken Burgers Get Me Every Time

    by  • May 1, 2013 • Burger Board

Although my posts have been slightly sporadic lately, the activity certainly has not slowed down one bit. We’re eating burgers, dancing up a storm and making crafts along the way. This latest burger, the chicken cilantro burger, in the burger series was devoured a couple weeks ago, but I’m going to do my best to describe just how tasty it was.

    Burger8_CilantroChicken5

I found a few recipes online that inspired me to make this refreshing burger. Here are three that served me well: 1, 2, 3. Served with some blue corn tortilla chips and semi-homemade salsa, it was the perfect weeknight meal.

    Burger8_CilantroChicken4

I was just using those recipes as inspiration, and my final mix was ground chicken meat, fresh cilantro, onion, red bell pepper, lime juice, garlic, salt and pepper. I would have thrown in some jalapeño too, but I didn’t have any on hand so I added some crushed red pepper to give them some heat.

    Burger8_CilantroChicken2

I used our typical gluten-free Udi’s buns and topped the burgers with lettuce, some pepper jack cheese and some “easy guac.” Easy guac is some smashed up avocado with lime juice and garlic. Easy peasy guac.

    Burger8_CilantroChicken3

Like I said, these were a great dinner and I could definitely see the Mr. and I making them again soon. They’re perfect for summer months when you’re craving a burger, but want something with a fresher taste.
